Jazz takes centre stage in Lincoln’s spectacular Cathedral on the 14th, 15th and 16th July when this historic landmark plays host to a weekend festival of Jazz featuring leading UK musicians with international credentials, continuing a musical tradition that has been played across the centuries.
This, the only jazz festival to be staged in a major UK Cathedral, will celebrate a range of jazz styles. The weekend opens with award winning vocalist Clare Teal and continues with appearances from celebrated guitarist Martin Taylor MBE, saxophonists Tim Garland and Paul Booth, pianists Jason Rebello, Fergus McCreadie, Chris Ingham and Alex Wilson, trumpeter Bryan Corbett and the festival’s Artistic Director, trombonist Dennis Rollins MBE.
There will be a special service performance by the Paul Booth Quartet and the Cathedral Choir under Musical Director Aric Prentice and performances by county based bands including Djanco, the Jazz Machine Youth Jazz Orchestra and the Sounds Easy Big Band.
Brought to the city by not-for-profit Lincoln Jazz, in partnership with Lincoln Cathedral and with support from East Midlands Jazz, Lincoln BIG, The John Dawber Trust and valued sponsors, all the events, including some free events, will take place in and around the Cathedral making use of the Visitor Centre facilities. Lincoln Castle, the famous Steep Hill and Bailgate’s shopping/cafes/restaurants/hotels/pubs are all within a short stroll from the venue.
