Nettleham-based screenwriter Ewen Glass is bringing his 15+ years of experience as a TV/film writer to the people of Lincolnshire with his new venture, Lincoln Script Lab.
He will offer group workshops, one-on-one mentor sessions and residencies exploring the craft of screenwriting, in person and online, with courses starting this September in Nettleham and Lincoln.
Catering for a range of abilities, from beginner to pro, the courses will give locals the chance to learn all about scriptwriting from someone with industry experience, who continues to work on large scale film and TV projects.
Ewen’s feature films have been released in cinemas across the world, and he has written for major TV networks such as BBC, Channel 4, RTE and Hollywood Suite in Canada. Having put words in the mouths of Hollywood actors Harvey Keitel, Gina McKee and Gabriel Byrne, Ewen’s contribution to the film industry was recognised by being awarded full membership of BAFTA in 2021.
“I am delighted to be able to offer these classes to the people of Lincoln and the surrounding area,” Ewen says. “In my experience, it’s often something people are interested in but may not necessarily have had the opportunity to study or practice.”
“Even those who have studied film or creative writing long for a community after they graduate, to not just improve their writing but to give ongoing support. Lincoln Script Lab aims to fill that void, offering community, advice and a fun environment in which to tell our stories.”
Ewen, who has taught at BFI Film Academy, University of Exeter and University of Lincoln, believes that writing is for everyone. “Whether you’re 18 or 108, it’s an amazing experience discovering your voice on the page. And who knows, we may just discover the next big thing at Lincoln Script Lab!”
