A brand-new free to attend community dance class will be taking place on Wednesdays 6-7pm at The Showroom on Tritton Road.
This dance class and other community initiatives are able to take place thanks to YMCA Lincolnshire’s work with seven other Lincolnshire charities to provide opportunities to strengthen communities where there is a real need, under the Working and Connecting Communities Project. This project is funded by the UK Government through a portion of the UK Community Renewal Fund.
Gloria David, who moved to Lincoln 4 years ago from London, noticed that Lincoln does not have many of the facilities and opportunities that London offered residents.
She has been a dance practitioner for many years, with her expertise focusing on Bharatanayam (Kathak style), street dance and hip hop. After a successful venture running dance classes in the London borough of Haringey, she is excited to bring her passion to Lincoln.
Since the pandemic, Gloria is aware that many individuals in the community have felt isolated, so when she saw the advert online from The Showroom offering their facilities for free, she knew she had to start up a dance class here. It is a great way to get into shape, have a laugh and meet new people.
“There is no pressure to dance straight away” Gloria explains, “you can simply come along to the first session and watch, relax and see if this is a class you could enjoy!”
