Scothern Small Business Named as UK Great Place to Work 2023

Local company, HubGem Marketing Ltd, faced national competition from well-recognised brands and large enterprises in the prestigious award category, proudly taking home the title in recognition of their dedication to company culture and employee wellbeing.

The Scothern-based business received the title ‘Great Place to Work 2023’ at the national Engage Awards ceremony, a black-tie event in central London on the 28th November. HubGem Marketing is a small company that specialises in implementing CRM software solutions for education providers around the world, making a big impact in their niche market.

Founded in 2019 by University of Lincoln graduate and local mother-of-one Gemma Price, the company has seen rapid growth and now employs a team of 19 based around Lincolnshire and across the UK, with company headquarters based at Gemma’s home office in Scothern.

Since its inception 4 years ago this month, Gemma and the HubGem team have placed a strong emphasis on the importance of culture and employee wellbeing, offering dozens of supportive and innovative initiatives to employees. From paid time off to focus on wellbeing activities, to subscriptions to meditation apps, monthly fitness challenges and a culture designed to empower employees – the small business is redefining company culture and making waves nationally.

HubGem CEO and Founder, Gemma Price, said, “I am incredibly proud that as a small business we have been recognised at a national level for our focus on employee engagement and company culture, we were up against some of the biggest names in UK business and I believe that the culture we have at HubGem is something really special. The happiness of our employees has always been a key focus for us and I always set out to build something different that offers our team such a strong sense of belonging and purpose.

“As a small business with a mostly remote team, operating in such a niche field, it can be a challenge to get recognition for the impact we are making and with our company headquarters based in my home in a small Lincolnshire village, we don’t have the big premises and presence of many other businesses. So, for HubGem to be named Great Place to Work UK, in the biggest category of the night at this prestigious event, beating some much larger companies who have much bigger budgets than us; it really does mean the world to our team.”

The Engage Awards are the UK’s only awards programme celebrating achievements across the entire spectrum of customer and employee engagement. 2023 saw the awards receive a record-breaking number of entries from across the UK.

The ‘Great Place to Work’ category recognises organisations that have put an effective strategy in place that has helped to create a working environment with improved employee engagement and experience. The implementation of this strategy must show measurable results.
