The Pumpkin Trail is Back, Just in Time for October Half-Term and Lincoln’s Spooky Goings On

Lincoln’s annual Pumpkin Trail is back for October half-term 2022, taking over the Bailgate and The Strait as the city gears up for some spooky goings on this Halloween half-term.

Running from 14th October to 2nd November, the Pumpkin Trail will be a great reason for families to explore Lincoln during the first half-term of the new school year.

As previous years, the independent stores that line the cobbled streets of uphill Lincoln and The Strait will be popping a pumpkin in their windows ready to be spotted by eagle-eyed pumpkin hunters. Themed with plenty of spooky surprises, Lincoln’s historic cobbled streets come into their own come Halloween.

Stop off at some of the fantastic local businesses along the way – they’ll all be dressing their windows to thrill too as this year we will also be running an autumnal-cum-Halloween window display competition in collaboration with Lincoln BIG for businesses who fancy getting in the spirit of the season.

Laura Freer, Head of Marketing at Destination Lincolnshire, said: “The Pumpkin Trail as a family event is a well-attended one in the city’s calendar, bringing more people to the Bailgate and The Strait, encouraging them to linger, stay for longer, explore the independent shops, venues, and attractions. Combined with Lincoln BIG’s return of the Day of the Dead Parade taking place on the high street during the October half-term, across the whole city there is plenty for residents and visitors to discover when exploring what Lincoln has to offer.”

To take part in the trail, collect a leaflet – with map and questions – from the Visitor Information Centre – or download it via www.visitlincoln.com/whats-on/lincoln-pumpkin-trail (2022’s map will be uploaded soon). Follow the route, complete the questions, and on returning a completed leaflet collect a certificate and be in with a chance of winning the grand prize. To enter, parents/guardians can simply enter their details online.

So, that prize we mentioned? Answer the trail questions as you explore the Pumpkin Trail to be in the draw to win. This year we will be working with the shops and businesses participating in the Pumpkin Trail to curate a family hamper full of goodies.

And it won’t just be uphill Lincoln the gets in the spooky spirit. Returning for another year will also be Lincoln BIG’S Halloween Day of the Dead Parade. Taking place on October 30th in the city centre, the fancy dress parade will also go hand-in-hand with Halloween crafts, so there will be plenty of activities for families looking for a hauntingly good time to get involved in.
