What do the People of Lincoln Love Most?

‘All We Need Is Love’ is a new community projection project for Lincoln that will be shown on the outside of the House of Fraser building in the High Street from approximately 3pm to 9pm every day from 10th – 19th February 2023.

The short film has been commissioned as a special city centre project for the February half term and will be shown on a constant loop during the afternoons and early evenings of that week. As Valentine’s Day falls in the middle of the week, the theme of the film will be about love, but all kinds of love – people, things, places, hobbies… maybe even ideas!

If people wanted to get involved, they can email a photo, image or a drawing of someone (or something) they really love with a few words saying who (or what) it is, and why they love them (or it) and email it to love@lincolnbig.co.uk by 5pm on Sunday 22 January 2023. Alternatively, if people want to get involved but don’t have an email address, they can bring images to the Lincoln BIG office at The Terrace on Grantham Street in Lincoln by the same deadline.

The creative team will go through all the images and will then include as many as possible – showing as many different sides of love as possible – in the finished projection (please note that it may not be possible to include every image we receive, and we cannot therefore guarantee that every picture sent to us will appear in the film).

We look forward to finding out about what the people of Lincoln love most and to creating a really special community film to brighten up the High Street during the dark days of February!

‘All We Need Is Love’ is a Lincoln BIG project funded from the Lincoln Creates initiative and delivered by the Different Light Collective www.different-light.co.uk It is supported by the House of Fraser and Ringrose Law.

Simon Hollingworth is a local freelance Creative Producer and is part of Different Light, a Lincolnshire collective of producers, technicians and artists who devise and deliver a range of community engagement projects that often use light and sound: “We are delighted to be bringing this project to Lincoln in the February half term and can’t wait to see that corner of the High Street above House of Fraser animated and illuminated. As soon as we spotted the Lincoln Creates project through Lincoln BIG, we were excited to apply and are so pleased our application was successful. The fact that people will be able to get involved with the project by sending in images of people and things they love should make it all the more special and we are confident that the finished piece will look fantastic and will really brighten up the High Street with a message of love and tolerance.”

Sue Bell, Projects Consultant of Lincoln BIG added “Lincoln BIG is delighted that they are able to use Lincoln Creates funding to encourage collaboration between creative practitioners and businesses to support the city centre events programme.  The installation will help animate the city – bringing vitality and life to the High Street during the dark February evenings”.
